A thrilling weekend with Rustic Escapes at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the biggest festivals of its kind in the world. Held in the grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, this historic hill climb event grows exponentially each year in quantity and quality. Its ever-changing philosophy highlights their bold ambitions characterized by a tradition of innovation. This year marked the 25th anniversary since the festival began and once again it proved to be the world’s greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture.
We were fortunate enough to attend for two days in July and there is so much to do. You can experience drifting at high speeds at the ‘Jaguar Driving Experience’ or seeing the sights from an aerial view aboard a helicopter, and all experiences are included in your ticket price. The scale of this event is outstanding, and it does a remarkable job of catering to all ages and differing tastes. During the day you can witness the historic hill climb, featuring world famous cars tackling the famous track; periodic rally sessions or even watch professional motocross riders freestyle in the off-Road Arena. As you make your way around the grounds you can see the exhibitors showcasing all types of cars from Le Mans racers to Mclarens, Bugattis and of course Ferraris. If you’re a Formula 1 fan don’t fret, because the festival is purposely held before the start of the championship, so expect to see F1 cars and teams.
We had an unbelievable time at Goodwood and were up early to get back there on Saturday. I highly recommend it to any petrolhead or motorsport enthusiast. And if you are not yet one, the Festival of Speed may change your mind.
We were lucky enough to spend the weekend at Spring Cottage in Amberley which is only about a 15 minute drive away. Rustic Escapes offers experiences to Goodwood Festival of Speed and also Goodwood Revival which is in September.
